The reflow-solder gauntlet
A surface-mount component rides through a reflow oven at around 260 °C — hotter than most commodity plastics can take. That single number rules the material choice: connectors and sockets are PA66, PBT or LCP precisely because they survive it, and everything must also meet a flame-retardance rating (UL 94).
